Kattis was found and we switched continent :-)
On the 29th of March we rolled into a camping ground in Tauranga and dressed up for a fine dinner in town. Why, well on that date it was exactly one year, since we first meet at a hostel in Budapest :-). Having thoroughly celebrated the day, we drove to Mt Maunganui the next day to meet up with Danielle’s friend, Kattis.
We spent a night at Kattis’ place before the three of us jumped into our fantastic van and drove towards the top of New Zealand. During the five days on the small peninsula north of Auckland, we visited a lot of small bays with fantastic beaches, climbed in a glow worm cave and – again – did some wine tasting.
Leaving Kattis and our van behind, we did once again prepare for a 12 hour flight. The flight from Auckland to LA went without problems and we arrived in LA airport to pickup our pre-booked car. We did book the smallest model available, but apparently small does not mean the same thing in the US as it does in Denmark. Their smallest and cheapest model is a huge Pontiac, which we are going to drive all the way up the West Coast to Seattle.
Before setting out on the big adventure, we needed to do one thing in LA: A big tourist tour of the city! Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hill, Malibu beach…you name it, we been there and got the photos ;-).
We are now packing our bags once again and are soon heading north on new adventures. This time however in a car that we cannot sleep in, so we once again have to fight the noise and bedbugs in overpriced dodgy hostels. See you all soon!
