Towards Cape Town…
We are now at the end of 4 weeks of fantastic vacation in South Africa and we are welcomed home by a snow storm in Copenhagen. A friendly reminder of why we leave the northern hemisphere a month every winter.
The last 10 days of our vacation we spent driving along the South coast of South Africa from Durban to Cape Town, where we were to meet our great friends, Daniel and Annette (and their new-born daughter, Tallulah). Along the coast we stayed at many delightful B+Bs and met a lot of wonderful people. Highlights included jetskiing in Port Edward and hiking and mountainbiking in Tsisikamma National Park. It is the second time we do the Garden Routh, – as the drive along the coast is called -, and we really enjoy the fantastic scenery and possibility for outdoor activities.
Arriving in Cape Town we were warmly welcomed by Daniel and Annette, who was our lovely company for the next two days. We walked the waterfront, relaxed on the beaches, visited the district six museum and got a guided tour of a township. We can only encourage all to read up on South African history, it is scary stuff…
As a perfect end for our vacation we had booked two nights at a vineyard in the wine region just outside Cape Town, where we enjoyed wine- and cheese tastings and the beautiful scenery of the wine region. A couple of bottles even found the way back home to Denmark :-).
South Africa is a wonderful place, which – again – has given us many weeks of sun, smiles and amazing experiences. We are already talking about when to go next time…
